Out of curiosity, I bought MODERN LOVE LETTERS by Harrish Joy, which, I find, is a collection of 117 "modern love letters" which are very funny and ridiculous and full of spelling and grammar mistakes but the letters deal with very popular topics. I hesitate to give the doubtful name and address of "DISTRIBUTORS" of the book but it has ISBN number from which the publisher can be found, I hope.

There was a bookshop in town, long gone. The Ideal Book Depot, run by a portly gentleman who sat in a dark corner at the rear of the shop. He hated getting out of his chair. If you wanted to buy a book or magazine, you had to take it off the shelf and carry it over to him along with your money. And you had to present him with the correct amount, because he disliked having to count and hand over the change; any sort of physical effort was disagreeable. He reminded me of that fine character actor Sydney Greenstreet, a very large person who looked upon the world with some distaste in the sort of villainous roles he was given in Casablanca and The Maltese Falcon.

Mr. Ruskin Bond (who seems a popular author among teenage Indian readers) looks like Mr. Ramesh Kumar, the owner of WESTERN BOOK DEPOT and My very helpful friend, from whom I have bought many books over the years (including My first copy of wonderful WORD POWER MADE EASY by Norman Lewis) in cash and in instalments (when I was short of cash).
