A HEART-BREAKING STORY

About poor scared intelligence agents. (A heart-breaking real-life story.) 

As I started going through the spy novel TOPAZ by Leon Uris, I felt very surprised that the main point of the novel is not stated quickly but pages after pages are devoted to tiresome endless details of the "DEFECTION" of SPIES from one country to another to seek protection because they are in danger of getting "ELIMINATED" (murdered, finished off) in their own countries - protection and asylum are given IN EXCHANGE FOR vital security information. But all poor defected spies are in constant danger of getting murdered in countries where they have DEFECTED because they are watched in foreign soil too by spies of their original countries. What a sad and tortured life for all intelligence agents of all countries! Satanic Trinity make sure that all countries feel suspicious of one another: "Divide and rule." I came out and thanked the two girls. As I was leaving, I overheard one girl say to the other girl (I was not seen by them): "I could have given Him some money - but how much would my fifteen rupees help Him? This man [the tall fair Anglo-Indian intelligence agent] says He is a spy - I don't think He is a spy!" I quickly went back and held up My Cotton College M.Sc. Then I climbed up the wooden stairs of an old building opposite Ravi Hotel, where I suspected CBI office to be located - and I was right - I threw disinfectant Dettol liquid (symbolically) at the CBI office signboard near the office entrance door and went inside and saw the male and female CBI staff giving a nervous smile and then I came out. (CBI sleuths must have found out that I was a clean patriot and false accusations had been levelled against Me of heinous crimes like rape and murder I had definitely not done.) As I climbed the wooden stairs of Ravi Hotel (to ask the manager of Ravi Hotel if money from home had arrived), I saw an Anglo-Indian woman wearing skirt and blouse, holding a baby in her arms, standing in front of the door near the lower landing of the wooden stairs - in the manner of a prostitute soliciting a Customer - wife of the harassed Anglo-Indian intelligence officer? - wrenched My heart. I will never forget that heart-breaking scene. I went on climbing the stairs and met the awe-struck manager of the hastily constructed Ravi Hotel to inquire if money from home had come. As I descended the wooden stairs, I saw at the lower landing in front of the door where the Anglo-Indian woman with a skirt and blouse had stood before (she seemed to have a bulging belly, which indicated pregnancy, I thought) the tall Anglo-Indian guy who bowed his head to Me but I pretended not to notice him bowing and went out of the makeshift "RAVI HOTEL".
