'He was bringing some things to me, you know.' He looked around to see if one of the men would pull Vera off him. There wasn't a chance; she had the whole family cowed.

'Look, I've fixed it so that you can pick up Nanoosh and give him a decent burial,' Roman told her. 

'A decent burial!' she shrieked. Vera turned to the rest of the room so that everyone could appreciate her histrionics equally. 'Listen to Romano. A decent burial! There was nothing ridiculous in what she was saying. 'That's better,' Vera said. On cue, one of her daughters came out of the shadows with a paper plate. On it was a pastry dripping with honey. 'We can't eat until the pomana,' she said, 'but you should. You have a lot of work to do.'

'Thanks.' He noticed that Vera was her old self now that she had gotten her way.

'Why are you grinning like a fool?' she asked.

'For the best of reasons,' Roman answered.

'Csucasian female, age approximately twenty to twenty-five. Hair brown, eyes blue.' The medical examiner spoke into a microphone clipped onto the lapel of his white smock. A wire from it led to the tape-recorder in a roomy pocket.

'The body has been dismembered into six separate parts,' he went on in a monotone. There is a small scar under the chin. No digits [fingers] are missing. There is some bruising of tissue on the knuckle of the fourth metacarpal, where a ring has been removed while alive or shortly afterward [shortly after death]. There are no other scars, birthmarks or moles.'

There were four men around the table. Roman wasn't a weak man; he'd seen death before. But the others, including [Sergeant] Isadore, had professional objectivity to fall back on. He didn't, and the dis-assembled horror of the sterile room was a revelation to him. He'd never considered that put back together, the human body resembled a mis-shapen octopus more than anything else.

The examiner had pulled back a flap of scalp and sawed through the skull for the brain. One cuff raised an eyelid to reveal a blue eye that stared at Roman with a madly askew iris.

The brain, a convoluted Ruby, was weighed and deposited in a glass jar. The examiner's assistant wrote out a label, licked the back and applied it to the jar.

Sergeant Harry Isadore looked out of place, a long-suffering snowman. His cheeks and nose were contrasting hues of blue and pink, and he slapped his thick hands together to encourage circulation. He had dressed for a warm summer day, and going into the mortuary on First Avenue had loosened his sinuses.

'You've got to admit it's easier this way,' the assistant said as he pushed the legs and arms to one side.

The examiner opened the chest cavity and removed the heart and lungs and studied the interior of the cavity for fractured ribs. As a team, he and the assistant cut out the intestinal tract, the liver, spleen, pancreas and kidneys. When they had finished examining them, they placed the organs in glass-top fruit jars and sealed the tops with wax. The assistant wrote out more labels while the examiner drew blood for a typing.

The police reported the girl had come from the Cadillac Eldorado driven by Nanoosh Pulneshti. Nsnoosh had started from Montevideo, Uruguay, gathering pieces for Roman. He crossed the Rio Grande without passing through U.S. Customs, and three days later Nanoosh was approaching the George Washington Bridge. 'Can you give me a closer age, Doctor?' Isadore asked. 

The examiner prodded the jaw open again while the assistant held the head steady.

'From the wear on the teeth' - he cut a thin line into the gum - 'and the immaturity of the roots of the third molar, I would venture closer to twenty years than twenty-five.' He pushed the jaw closed and shrugged. 'She's not a virgin, but she's never borne a child or had an abortion. No evidence of drugs.'

Isadore had brought Roman down to identify Nanoosh in his stainless-steel filing cabinet. Roman didn't know what the point was in asking him to witness this gruesome theater. He refused to watch, looking instead at the tile floor with its black, grooved borders.

At the end of all this the examiner paused and glanced at Isadore. His assistant was at the ready, rolling forward a tray with its container of formalin, alcohol and carmine to embalm the parts. Isadore stopped the tray. He took a toothpick and ran its flat end under the girl's polished fingernails. He held the toothpick up to the light and inspected it.

'Nothing [?]. She didn't suspect a thing [?]. She thought she was with a friend.' [Why?]

'Is that all, Sergeant? We'd like to clean up.'

'Hold it.' He gestured for Roman. 'One last thing.'

Roman stood next to Isadore above the cool table with its display of meat.

MAHARISHI ayurveda COW GHEE (in 400g bottle) seems to be a good product. I am not impressed by Patanjali ghee (paper packets) I bought from some local shops; maybe the shops sold spurious - not genuine - Patanjaii ghee. Ditto: ANNAPURNA ghee. AMUL butter continues to maintain QUALITY - but for Me, Patanjali "kachi ghani" mustard oil has been the substitute for some months with boiled rice and boiled potatoes and black salt and sometimes boiled egg; though I sometimes eat bread with Amul butter and sugar. I thank Indian farmers from the bottom of My heart. I Ike AMULYA powder with hot water & sugar.

About a year ago, I was really surprised to learn from an Indian female on YouTube that ghee can be easily made from butter (I have referred to that YouTube video in My earlier blog posts) without the tiresome hassle of collecting দুধের সর thick floating portion of milk (cream of milk) গাখীৰৰ সৰ day after day for many days! I showed the YouTube video to sp. who made ghee on the stove in ten minutes with Amul butter I had bought - a few drops of lemon juice were added as instructed in the YouTube video. (I am not used to lighting a gas burner and using gas regulator valve and heating a pan on a gas stove - very easy for desi females whether sn. or non-sn.) What an easy way to make butter! Known to very few, I think! I cannot recall the name of the desi female tutor on YouTube (practically all names on YouTube are fake anyway!). I have just watched a few YouTube videos by Indian females but lemon juice is not mentioned. Yes, unsalted butter was mentioned in the original video I saw - but the only butter I have known and eaten for many years is Amul butter available in local shops. (I have never heard of unsalted KIRKLAND butter!) The "ghee" made from Amul butter tasted quite OK to Me. Anyway, ghee made from butter by sp. was a once in a blue moon attempt - never repeated by sp.

আমরা জানি ধনবান মানে যার অনেক ধন আছে - I learned from an interesting and scholarly book entitled বিজ্ঞান ও দেবদেবী by নিগূঢ়ানন্দ, "ভগবান" = ভগ (v.) + বান - "ভগবান" শব্দের অর্থ (বাজে অর্থ) হচ্ছে, ভগবান অনেক ভগের মালিক । বইটিতে বলা হয়েছে God is derived from good.

প্রথম প্রথম যখন ধ্যানে বসি তখন কোন মহাপুরুষের অকারণ করুণায় অতি সহজেই কুণ্ডলিনী শক্তি জাগরিত হয় । নানা দেশ-দেশান্তর, পাহাড়-পর্বত, সাগর, মরুভূমি ইত্যাদি চোখ বুজে থাকলেও মস্তিষ্ক-স্নায়ুতে ছবি ফেলতে থাকে । এমন কত কিছু তখন দেখেছি । মাঝে মাঝেই নীল-নয়ন কিছু সাহেব নজরে পড়ত ‌। দেখে মনে হত যেন জার্মান দেশের লোক । আমার মন বলত, একদিন নিশ্চয়ই এদের সঙ্গে আমার দেখা হয়ে যাবে । আশ্চর্য ! সত্যি সত্যিই এদের অনেকের সঙ্গেই পরে দেখা হয়েছে ।

যে সাহেবকে প্রথম প্রথম ধ্যানে দেখতুম, আশ্চর্যভাবেই তার সঙ্গে একদিন দেখা হয়ে যায় । দেখা হবার Backgroundটাও অদ্ভুত ।

একটি মেয়ে আসত আমার কাছে । নাকতলা-টলা কোথায় যেন থাকত । বোধহয় ইংলিশ মিডিয়ামের ছাত্রী । চাকুরির দরকার ছিল । আমার কাছে আসার পর ইংলিশ মিডিয়াম কোনো স্কুলে চাকুরিও পেয়ে যায় । ধ্যান শিখেছিল আমার কাছে । অনেক কিছু দেখত । ফরোয়ার্ড মেয়ে । বড় বড় হোটেল-রেস্টুরেন্টে যেত । তেমনই এক রেস্টুরেন্টেই এক সাহেব আর মেমের সঙ্গে দেখা । ওঁরা দক্ষিণ ভারত ঘুরে এসেছেন । উত্তর ভারতেরও বিরাট অংশ Cover করেছেন, কাশী, হরিদ্বার ইত্যাদি । ওঁদের অধ্যাত্ম কৌতূহল পরিতৃপ্ত হয়নি । ধরতে গেলে কিছুই পাননি । কলকাতা আসার ইচ্ছা ছিল না । এখানে ভারতীয় সংস্কৃতির সন্ধান পাওয়া যাবে না বলেই তাঁদের কাছে খবর ছিল । ভারতে আসার সময় জনৈক বন্ধু বলে দিয়েছিল - Do not go to Calcutta.

- কেন ?

- Calcutta is the toilet of India. Most dirty city.

কিন্তু অন্যত্র ভগ্নমনোরথ হয়ে এই Toilet of India দেখার জন্যই তাঁরা কলকাতা আসেন । খেতে খেতে তাঁদের ভিস্যাপয়েন্টমেন্টের কথাই আলোচনা করছিলেন ওঁরা । মেয়েটি ওভারহিয়ার করে ।

ওঁদের আলোচনার বিষয় ছিল : ভারতবর্ষের অধ্যাত্মতা সম্পর্কে গল্পকথাই বেশি । আসলে কিছু নেই ।

ভারতবর্ষের প্রতি মেয়েটির আবার বিশেষ রকম দুর্বলতা । সুভাষ-প্রেমিকদের সুভাষ-বিশ্বাসের মতোই ভারতবর্ষের অধ্যাত্মতা সম্পর্কে তার বিশ্বাস ‌। সাধু-সন্ত দেখলেই ছুটে যায় । আমার কাছেও এসেছিল বাইরে থেকে খবর পেয়ে । আমি সাধু-সন্ত নই । তবে যোগের কিছু কিছু খবর জানি । সেই যোগ সম্পর্কে কিছু জানার জন্যই এসেছিল । আমার হল প্র্যাকটিক্যাল যোগ । থিওরি-টিওরি এর মধ্যে কিছু নেই । 

ফিলসফি সত্যকে কতদূর জানায় আমি জানি না । বরং আমার মাথাব্যথার কারণ হয় ।

মনে আছে গল্ফ গ্রীনে কোনো এক অধ্যাপকের গৃহে একটা আলোচনাসভা বসেছিল । আলোচনা করার কথা আমার । কোনো এক বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের দর্শন বিভাগের প্রধানও এসেছিলেন সেখানে । তাঁকে জিজ্ঞাসা করেছিলাম - আপনি তো দার্শনিক । আমাকে বলতে পারেন, ভগবান কি ?

উনি বলেছিলেন - লজ্জা দেবেন না । ভগবান-এর অর্থ বলার ক্ষমতা আমার নেই ।

দর্শনশাস্ত্র যদি ভগবানের খবরই না দিতে পারে তাহলে সে দর্শনের প্রয়োজনীয়তা কি? আমার কাছে কিন্তু ভগবানের অর্থ অত্যন্ত সহজ । একে আরো সহজ করে দিয়েছে কোনো দর্শনশাস্ত্র নয়, বরং পদার্থবিদ্যা ।

বস্তু হল আবদ্ধ শক্তি [তেজ, এনার্জি] । ঘনীভূত তেজই বস্তু ।

এনার্জির [শক্তির] প্রতীক হল ত্রিকোণ, যোনি । যোনিকে ভারতীয় সংস্কৃত ভাষায় বলে ভগ । এই ভগ-এর যিনি অধীশ্বর, তিনিই তো ভগবান । যেমন ভাগ্যের অধীশ্বরকে বলে ভাগ্যবান, বিত্তের অধীশ্বরকে বলে বিত্তবান, তেমনই । সুতরাং ভগবান অর্থ তো খুব সহজ । কিন্তু দর্শনের কাছে 'ভগবান' জানতে চান, তাতে ব্যাপারটা এমন জটিল হয়ে উঠবে যে, যা বুঝতেন তাও গুলিয়ে যাবে । ভগবান তখন একটা ধাঁধা হয়ে যাবেন মাত্র ।

যোগদর্শন নিয়ে কতকগুলি বই আমি পড়েছি । আমি ব্যক্তিগতভাবে যোগ করেছি বলে আমার মনে হয়েছে অর্থহীন । যোগ [union] সম্পর্কে সামান্য মাত্র যাঁদের ধারণা নেই, তাঁরই যোগদর্শন নিয়ে বই লেখেন । এসব বই পড়ে ফয়দা কিছু নেই । আমি যোগের বই লিখেছিলাম হিমালয়ের কোনো মহাপুরুষের নির্দেশে । মহাপুরুষের অভিজ্ঞতা ব্যর্থ হবার নয় । সেই পথে আমার বই পড়ে যাঁরা যোগ করেছেন, তাঁদের অন্তরাকাশে অদ্ভুত অদ্ভুত সব দর্শন হয়েছে । তাঁদের অভিজ্ঞতার কথা আমার 'পরমাত্মার চোখ' গ্রন্থের পরিশিষ্টে আমি দিয়েছি ।

মেয়েটিও এইভাবেই আমার কাছে যোগ শিখেছিল । তারও বাস্তব অভিজ্ঞতা কিছু হয়েছিল । যার ফলে এ-ব্যাপারে তার বিশ্বাস জন্মে গিয়েছিল । তাই ভারতীয় 

অধ্যাত্ম সংস্কৃতি সম্পর্কে যখন উপরোক্ত সাহেব ও মেমসাহেবের কিছু বিরূপ ধারণার কথা মেয়েটি জানতে পারে, সে অযাচিতভাবেই তাঁদের কাছে এগিয়ে গিয়ে বলে, মাপ করবেন, আপনারা ভারতবর্ষের অধ্যাত্ম সাধনা সম্পর্কে যে ধরণের সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়ে ফেলেছেন - তা সত্য নয় ।

- ইজ ইট ? 

- হ্যাঁ ।

- কিন্তু আমরা তো এত ঘুরিয়াও সে ধরণের অধ্যাত্ম ক্ষমতাসম্পন্ন কোনো ব্যক্তির সন্ধান পাইলাম না ।

- তার কারণ আছে ।

- কি কারণ ?

- আপনারা গিয়েছিলেন বিশেষ বিশেষ রিলিজিয়াস অর্ডারের কাছে - যাঁরা নিজেরা প্রত্যক্ষ কোনো অতীন্দ্রিয় অভিজ্ঞতার সম্মুখীন হন নি । যাঁদের সরাসরি অধ্যাত্ম অভিজ্ঞতা নেই - অধ্যাত্ম জগতের কথা তাঁরা কিছুতেই অপরকে বোঝাতে পারবেন না ।

- সরাসরি অধ্যাত্ম অভিজ্ঞতা হইয়াছে, এমন লোকের সাক্ষাৎ কি পাওয়া যাইবে ?

- আশা করি পাওয়া যাবে ।

- কোথায় ?

- এই কলকাতাতেই । আপনাদের Toilet of India-তে ।

- আমাদের সেখানে লইয়া যাইতে পারেন ?

- হ্যাঁ, পারি ।

- হাউ মাচ হ্যাভ উই টু পে ফর দ্যাট ?

- পে ! পে কেন ? মেয়েটি অবাক হয়ে তাঁদের দিকে তাকাল ।

ওঁরা বললেন - হ্যাঁ, যেখানেই আমরা এসব ব্যাপারে জিজ্ঞাসা লইয়া গিয়াছি, সেজন্য তাহাদের পে করিতে হইয়াছে । এক একটি অধ্যাত্ম উপদেশের জন্য টাকা দিতে হইয়াছে ।

- বলেন কি !

- হ্যাঁ ।

- কিন্তু এখানে দিতে হইবে না ।

- বল কি ! এমন সাধু-সন্তও আছেন ?

- উনি সাধু-সন্ত নন । অধ্যাপক মানুষ । তবে এ জগৎ সম্পর্কে জানেন । সরাসরি।অভিজ্ঞতাও আছে । বলুন তো নিয়ে যেতে পারি । আশা করি আপনাদের অনেক প্রশ্নের জবাব পারেন ।

- তাহলে আমাদের সেখানে লইয়া চল । এখনই লইয়া যাইতে পার ।

- তা তো পারব না ।

- কেন ?

- উনি যদি পারমিশন দেন তবেই সম্ভব ।

- উনি সকলের সঙ্গে দেখা করেন না ?

- না ।

- বিদেশী হইলেও নয় ?

সম্ভবত সাহেব এই কথাই বোঝাতে চেয়েছিলেন যে, শ্বেতচর্ম সাহেব-মেমদের প্রতিও তাঁর দুর্বলতা নেই ! ভারতীয়দের তো শ্বেতচর্মকায় ব্যক্তিদের প্রতি অপরিসীম দুর্বলতা । একটি সাহেবের সঙ্গে কথা বললে নিজেদের জন্ম সার্থক বলে মনে করে । ইংরেজি ভাষায় কথা বলতে পারলে সমাজে মর্যাদা বেড়ে যায় । আমেরিকা ঘুরে এলে সমাজে স্ট্যাটাস বেড়ে যায় - তা কুলির কাজ‌ করে এলেও । স্টেট্স [States/United States] বলে কথা !

মেয়েটি ওদের কথা বললে প্রথম দেখা করতে চাইনি ।ও বলল, একটু দেখা করুন, ওঁরা যেন ভ্রান্ত ধারণা নিয়ে আমাদের দেশ থেকে ফিরে না যান ।

কি ভেবেছিলাম জানি না ‌। তবে সম্মতি দিয়েছিলাম ।

একদিন সকালে মেয়েটি ওদের নিয়ে হাজির । আমার তো ছোট্ট বাড়ি । পনের ছটাক জমির ওপর । নিচে একটা ঘর । তারই এক কোণে রান্নার ব্যবস্থা । আর একদিকে বাথরুম । মাঝখানে একচিলতে জায়গা ডাইনিং Space হিসাবে । খাবার-দাবার জন্য । একটা লোক এলে বসানো যায় না । 

উপরে একটিমাত্র বেডরুম । মেয়েটিকে বললাম ওঁদের নিয়ে ওপরে এস ।

সাহেবরা 'বিশ্বঘুরে' অর্থাৎ 'ভবঘুরে' । এসব ব্যাপারে কোনো সঙ্কোচ নেই । আমার যত অবজ্ঞেয় ঘরই হোক না কেন, তাতে ঢুকতে ওদের বাধা কোথায় !

তবু বোধহয় বাধা ছিল । পরে ক্রাচফিল্ড [সাহেব] আমার কাছে তা স্বীকার করেছেন । এত দুর্দশাগ্রস্ত ছোট্ট বাড়ি দেখে তাঁর মনে হয়েছিল, আর একটা চিটিং সেন্টার হয়তো । ভালো রকমের গুণাগার দিতে হবে । এত গরিব মানুষ কিছু না নিয়ে ছাড়বে !

মেয়েটি কিন্তু তাদের সাবধান করে দিয়েছিল, Do not offer money - then you shall be kicked out. এই বিংশ শতাব্দীর দশম শতকেও এমন লোক পৃথিবীতে আছে, সাহেবরা ভাবতেও পারে না । তাদের জগতে Money counts everything. মানির জন্য মান পর্যন্ত বিসর্জন দিতেও লোকে এখন দ্বিধাবোধ করে না । টাকা Offer করলে লাথি মারবে এমন লোকের কথা এখন ভাবা যায় ! যা হোক, সাহেবরা আর কোনো টাকা আমাকে Offer করেনি । আমার টাকা না চাওয়াটা ওঁদের ভারি অবাক করেছিল । ঘরে ছিল চানাচুর আর মুড়ি । তাই দিতে নির্বিকারে খেলেন । তারপর কথা আরম্ভ ।

ক্রাচফিল্ডের যোগ সম্পর্কে যতটা আগ্রহ ছিল [ক্রোড়পতি] মার্জ রেনির ততটা নয় । সে ততটা সাধুসন্ত দেখতে বোধহয় ভারতবর্ষে আসেনি - এসেছে সাধু-সন্তের নামে এদেশে কত চোর-জোচ্চোর আছে তাই দেখতে । তীক্ষ্ণ দুটি চোখ মেলে সে শুধু আমাকে বিচার করে দেখছিল । সবাই তাদের টাকা-পয়সা নিয়ে ঠকিয়েছেন । আমি এ ব্যাপারে নিস্পৃহতার ভান করে কতটা ঠকাই সেটাই বোধহয় সে কড়াভাবে নজর করে দেখে যাচ্ছিল । যোগ বা অধ্যাত্ম জগৎ নিয়ে সে কোনো কথাই বলে নি ।

প্রথম দিন জিম ক্রাচফিল্ড ও মার্জ রেনি বিদায় নিয়ে গেল । ভাবলাম আর বোধহয় আসবে না । সাধুর ধরাচূড়া [ব্যঙ্গার্থে, সাজ-পোষাক] নেই, সাধুসন্তের মতো কথা নয়, এর কাছে কী পাওয়া যেতে পারে ? সুতরাং এটাকে একটা ঘটনা হিসেবে ধরে নিয়ে ভুলেই যাচ্ছিলাম হয়তো । কিন্তু পরের সপ্তাহে নির্দিষ্ট সময়ে আবার দেখি ঠিক ওরা এসে হাজির ।

এবার দেখি ক্রাচফিল্ড একটি নোটবই নিয়ে এসেছে । অর্থাৎ আমার কথার মধ্যে যদি কিছু Noteworthy থাকে তবে তা নোট করে নেবে । এতে সামান্য একটা ইঙ্গিত পাওয়া গেল এই যে, He is feeling interested. তার স্বভাব কিছুটা কৌতুহলী ছাত্রের মতো, পেশায় অধ্যাপক হলে কি হয় ।

তিন-চারবার [ক্রোড়পতি মেম] মার্জ রেনিকে সঙ্গে নিয়েই এসেছিল ক্রাচফিল্ড । শেষে মার্জ রেনি আর আসত না । শেষবার সে যখন জিম ক্রাচফিল্ডের সঙ্গে এসেছিল, আমাকে একটু বাজিয়ে নেবার চেষ্টা করেছিল বোধহয় । বলেছিল,

- একটি কথা বলব ?

- বল ।

- আপনি বলিতেছেন যে, মৃতদের দেখিতে পাওয়া যায় । তাদের সমস্ত জীবনের ঘটনাবলী পরমাত্মার বুকে চিত্রিত হইয়া আছে । উহা কি দেখিতে পাওয়া যায় ?

- হ্যাঁ, যায় বইকি !

- আপনি আমার হাজব্যান্ডের কথা বলিতে পারেন ?

- চেষ্টা করে দেখতে পারি । তবে সবহময় যে সব দেখা যায় তাও নয় ।

আমি চোখ বুজে দেখবার চেষ্টা করলাম । আশ্চর্য ! দেখি হাজব্যান্ডের কথা চিন্তা করতেই চার জন ব্যক্তিকে দেখা যাচ্ছে । বললাম, তোমার হাজব্যান্ডের কথা চিন্তা করতেই চারজনকে দেখতে পাচ্ছি কেন ?

- হ্যাঁ, আমি চারবার বিবাহ করিয়াছি ।

- তুমি কার সম্পর্কে জানতে চাও ?

- মাই লাস্ট হাজব্যান্ড ।

ভালো করে চোখ বুজে দেখি, বিরাট বপু এক সাহেব । দেখতে স্টার্ডি জার্মানের মতো । তলপেটে এক বিরাট ক্ষতচিহ্ন, যেন অপারেশন করা হয়েছে । মার্জ রেনিকে তার হাজব্যান্ডের বর্ণনা দিয়ে বললাম, তার তলপেটে বিরাট একটা অপারেশনের দাগ দেখছি । কি হয়েছিল ?

- ক্যান ইউ সী ?

- ইয়া । 

রেনি বলল, তলপেটে ওর অ্যাবডমিনাল ক্যানসার হয়েছিল । তাতেই মারা যায় । হরিবল্ ! সে আঠারো বছর আগে মারা যায় । আপনি দেখলেন কি করে ?

- বলেছি তো মানুষের সমস্ত জীবন পরমাত্মার বুকে ছবির মতো হয়ে আঁকা থাকে । 

মার্জ রেনি শুধু বললেন - আশ্চর্য !

জিম ক্রাচফিল্ড দেখি অবাক হয়ে আমার দিকে তাকিয়ে আছে । জিমকে বললাম - এই দেখতেই তো ভারতবর্ষে এসেছ, তাই না ?

- নো !

- তবে কিসের জন্য এসেছ ?

- টু নো অ্যাবাউট দি ওয়ার্ল্ড ডিভাইন ‌।

- ডিভাইন ওয়ার্ল্ড সম্পর্কে জানতে চাও কেন ?

- আমাদের এই স্থূল জীবন অর্থাৎ গ্রস ম্যাটেরিয়াল ওয়ার্ল্ডের বাইরেও কিছু আছে কি না তাই জানতে ।

- জেনে কি হবে ?

জিম তার কোনো সদুত্তর দিতে পারল না । শুধু বলল, কৌতূহল মাত্র ।

বললাম, আমাদের দেশে কিন্তু যোগ [union] করে অন্য কারণে ।

- কি কারণে ?

- মুক্তি পাবার জন্য ।

অনেকের ধারণা, হিন্দুরা পৌত্তলিক । তারা সাকার দেবদেবীতে বিশ্বাস করে । তা তো খ্রিষ্টান আর মুসলমানেরাও করে । তারা অ্যাঞ্জেলের কথা বলে, জিব্রায়েলের কথা বলে । যদি দেবতাই না থাকে তাহলে দেবদূত হয় কি করে ? আসলে দেবদেবী বলতে যাঁদের বোঝায় তাঁরা আমাদের অপেক্ষা বেশি ক্ষমতাসম্পন্ন, সাধারণ মানুষ যা দেখতে পায় না তা দেখতে পান । কিন্তু দেবতারাও যে চিরস্থায়ী, তা নয় । তাঁদেরও একদিন লয় আছে । কিন্তু যাঁকে আমরা ঈশ্বর বলি, সব কিছুর উৎস বলি, তাঁর কিন্তু লয় নেই । তিনিই God.

সাহেবদের জিজ্ঞাসা করলাম - God শব্দের অর্থ জানো ? ওরা কোনো কথা না বলে তেমনভাবেই আমার দিকে তাকিয়ে থাকল । বললাম, কোনো শব্দের যথার্থ অর্থ জানতে হলে তার উৎসে যেতে হয়,।তবেই জানা যায় । God শব্দটি সংস্কৃত 'গূঢ়' [গভীর, deep, রহস্যময়, mysterious] শব্দ থেকে এসেছে । "গূঢ়' বিকৃত উচ্চারণ হয়ে হয়েছে 'গুড' । গুড থেকে গড । অর্থাৎ জগতের উৎস-সত্তা যিনি, তিনি প্রচণ্ড রকমের রহস্যময় । তাঁর কিছু আভাস মাত্র পাওয়া যায় অন্তরের মধ্যে । এই ঈশ্বরীয় জ্ঞানকে বলা হয় Esoteric Knowledge - Esoteric অর্থ গূঢ়, Mysterious. অন্তরের মধ্যে যাঁরা ডুব দিতে পেরেছেন তাঁরা দিব্যজগৎ সম্পর্কে একটা ধারণা করতে পেরেছেন ।

Current supply to my house was disconnected on the morning of November 19, 2024 which could have been because of PWD work going on in my area and so I went to APDCL ZOO ROAD Branch (Japorigog, Guwahati) to complain about it to the SDE, APDCL (young BROJEN NEOG, if I remember his name correctly; he told me he had passed out from JEC: Jorhat Engineering College, Assam) who suggested that I also inform the GMC Ward Councillor representing Tarun Nagar area where I live and gave me the name and mobile phone number of GMC Ward Councillor ABHISHEK SHOME (photocopy enclosed) and accordingly I phoned the GMC Ward Councillor ABHISHEK SHOME (from the office chamber of the SDE, APDCL, BROJEN NEOG in his presence) about disconnection of electricity to my house and the GMC Ward Councillor ABHISHEK SHOME assured me over phone that he would take steps to restore electric supply to my house as early as possible. But there has been no current in my house since the morning of November 19, 2024 till today November 21, 2024.

Obviously, the matter went "FAST TRACK" - 60 m electric cable coil for Rs. 12000 @ Rs. 200 per m according to the PWD mohori (if report of My sp. can be relied on), who was present near the roadside drain when the PWD EXCAVATOR DAMAGED the UNDERGROUND cable from roadside APDCL POLE to my house, was bought by whoever was responsible and the 60 m electric cable coil was given to me by the PWD mohori on November 22, 2024 afternoon, and APDCL complaint van carrying APDCL electricians arrived in the evening (November 22, 2024) but it was quite dark, and APDCL complaint van (driven by a sedate-looking driver) with two young electricians carrying a tall bamboo stairs came again at about 10 AM TODAY - November 23, 2024 - and gave an OVERHEAD connection from roadside APDCL pole to My house. SPOTIFY FOR CREATORS 

Free audio podcast app Anchor was taken over by Spotify but podcasts could still be uploaded for free on Spotify for Podcasters - which is now Spotify for Creators - but what about the podcasts on Anchor / Spotify for Podcasters? All gone? If so, that will UPSET many - though I would not be bothered - I am not at all interested in "monetizing", and I am NOT interested in having ANY "FOLLOWERS" or "SUBSCRIBERS" (what is the difference?). Audio podcasting is just a casual hobby for Me - though My close reading of passages for proper comprehension before I recorded them and uploaded them as audio podcasts (on Anchor/Spotify for Podcasters, and later, on YouTube) has HELPED Me understand more fully any books that I now read and study. I updated Spotify for Podcasters to Spotify for Creators today but I cannot find any of My podcasts on Anchor/Spotify for Podcasters. All gone? (No problem for Me.) I bought a Dell laptop a few months ago but I have hardly used that laptop - smartphones and tablets are much easier to use. (We like to do things that are easy to do.) Perhaps all My audio recordings on Anchor / Spotify for Podcasters will be found if I use Spotify for Creators on My laptop. I don't know. I have not checked. I want to add, without wanting to DISCOURAGE ANYONE, that I think apps other than Google (BLOGGER) and YouTube may get HACKED at any time by hackers who just want to have "fun". Nerds can be weird.

I have been puzzled to find that some of My podcasts on YouTube have "views" though I do not want any "views". I could not solve the PUZZLE - of course if I Myself view an audio (podcast) uploaded by Me on YouTube, that might be 1 view on the smartphone or tablet I use - but how to explain 4 views or 5 views or more?!! When I discussed the puzzle with a young guy I used to regard as a good-for-nothing guy, he suggested that perhaps if anyone on My list of phone contacts views any of My audio on YouTube, that would be counted as "view". (Sp. has zero interest.)

Number of those who hit "subscribe" button = number of "subscribers"?

In the past, I hit "subscribe" button on a few YouTube videos without implying that those videos are exceptional and different from all other videos of the same type - but I stopped hitting "subscribe button" because it MIGHT convey to the YouTuber a false sense of the "importance" I attach to that YouTuber - as a matter of fact, no one is too important to Me, and no one is superior or inferior to others. (I often feel like unsubscribing the few videos I have subscribed but that would seem RUDE.)

Sounds like New Year resolutions. But why waste effort? Spotify etc. can be easily hacked at any moment, I am sure. YouTube seems OK.

AWFUL SMELL

I dissolved some "BLACK SALT" and "ROCK SALT" in A MUG OF WATER one by one and SMELLED each SOLUTION one after another - BHARAT "BLACK SALT", ALPINE "BLACK SALT", ALPINE "ROCK SALT", TATA "BLACK SALT", CATCH "BLACK SALT", HIMALAYAN "PINK SALT सैंधा नमक" ("PACKED by NUTRO KING FOODS AND PRODUCTS PVT LTD") - in EACH case, I got an AWFUL SMELL from the solution, which SMELLED like washing soda etc. Why this AWFUL SMELL? I am not sure if the name & address of company or packer PRINTED on the containers of "BLACK SALT" and "ROCK SALT" mentioned are real or fake. I am reminded of the COMEDY serial on SAB TV channel where one of the comedy actors wore a Hitler moustache like Charlie Chaplin! I am in a quandary (in a PUZZLED condition): the above-mentioned "BLACK SALT" (white powder or pink powder!) and "ROCK SALT" (white powder!) - whose solutions in water give off an awful smell - seem to be actually WHITE SALT basically - I have thrown away these very questionable packages of "BLACK SALT" and "ROCK SALT"! In the recent past few months, I ingested five 100g packets of ANKUR BLACK SALT अंकुर काला नमक অঙ্কুর বীট লবন (PRODUCE OF INDIA - Net Weight 100 g - M.R.P. ₹ 9 - "Natural and Tasty") and a few packets of PATANJALI BLACK SALT (if I remember correctly) and one 200g packet of PATANJALI ROCK SALT but these packets are FINISHED and I did not make their water solutions to smell them (humans smell; dogs sniff) to find out if their water solutions emit an awful smell or not. For many years, I had taken one pressure tablet DAILY for high BP but I STOPPED taking pressure tablets after I had MELENA (pitch black stool looking like TAR - clotted blood due to internal bleeding inside intestine) - I did not rush to a medical college hospital or any private nursing home but I started taking ayurvedic digestive tonic ZANDU PANCHARISHTA झंडु पंचारिष्ट (ZANDU reminds Me of a funny old Hindi song) from 9/8/2024 (9th August 2024) on the advice of a very experienced ayurvedic doctor, Dr. N.K. Gogoi [Zonal Officer (Ayur), Govt. of Assam; evening chamber on appointment: Ayurvedic Centre, Hengrabari Road, Opposite to Dispur Polyclinic, Ganeshguri Chariali, GUWAHATI - 781006]. My BP was 150/70 according to his mercury BP monitor when I first visited him on 9/8/2024, and 130/70 on checkup visit on 22/8/2024 (no fee for checkup). ["MELENA" - internal intestinal BLEEDING - turned out to be "a blessing in disguise" for Me - My high BP got lowered and I am much slimmer with NORMAL weight. I am always cool and try to look for the POSITIVE side in every situation in life, unlike cr. sp. who gets hysterical and over-excited and has a NEGATIVE attitude.] I measured My BP - twice - on 8th December 2024 (Sunday) after I got OMRON HEM 7124 BP monitor from Amazon in the morning: BP (morning): 149/72; BP (evening): 156/77; I have read that the lower reading (diastolic pressure) is more important, and according to the doctor, diastolic BP in 70-90 range is OK in My case. I feel that the higher readings (systolic BP) in My case could be the result of ingestion of dubious "BLACK SALT" and dubious "ROCK SALT" for several months! By the way, we should not want 120/80 always! My BP (morning 9th): SYS (systolic) 154 mm / DIA (diastolic) 77 mm; "mm" is PRESSURE unit: mm of mercury (Hg), NOT length mm!!! I use a mnemonic (pronounced NEE MON IK) to remember the medical term for higher BP reading: SYS (systolic) by associating SYS  with sis (sister); I can then easily recall the medical term for the lower BP reading: DIA (diastolic), but you can use a mnemonic for DIA: die (!) - BP then becomes zero, I think.

OMRON (Japanese product) seems to be a good BP monitor for home use. I bought it online from Amazon. I received it on Sunday (8th December '24). I bought Omron HEM 7124 model (Rs. 1,699); Omron HEM 7120 model (Rs.1,959) seems for specialists; it seems that the two models are almost the same; their differences are that Omron 7120 can also measure irregular heartbeats and body movements. I don't really need inbuilt memory because I can note down BP values.

FORTUNATELY, several months ago I bought from a local shop a packet of pink salt (rock salt सेंधा नमक?) - 1 kg packet if I remember correctly; I did not keep the plastic container and I don't remember the name nor address of manufacturer or packer of the pink salt; I still have some of this pink salt (rock salt or सेंधा नमक?) at home; I put a little of this pink salt in water and smelled the water solution: it did not emit a bad smell, thank God. Touch wood! (Better watch out for NAZI deception: no foul smell does NOT prove that it is safe - it may have non-smelling harmful chemicals. "The proof of the pudding lies in the eating." The proof of black salt or rock salt I ingest (eat) lies in My stomach condition and BP.) I can hopefully continue to use My BRILLIANT recipe invention "freedom from dependence on LAZ. cr. sp. for cooked food" for several days: boiled rice + boiled potatoes + "kachi ghani" mustard oil (Patanjali/Ruchi now) + PINK SALT/ROCK salt/sendha namak (?). - G

MEASURING BP (BLOOD PRESSURE) 

OMRON seems to be a good BP monitor for home use. I bought it online from Amazon. I received it today (Sunday). I bought Omron HEM 7124 model (Rs. 1,699); Omron HEM 7120 model (Rs.1,959) seems designed for specialists; from a Google article, it seems that the main differences between the two models are that Omron 7120 model can also measure IRREGULAR heartbeats and body MOVEMENTS, in which I am not interested.

I have serially numbered My audio podcasts on YouTube: G-0, G-1, G-2, G-3, G-4, G-5 etc. Any of My YouTube podcasts can be EASILY found by searching YouTube under (typing):

I remember reading the very surprising news that an Australian scientist was awarded the Nobel Prize for Physiology/Medicine for his revolutionary discovery that GALL BLADDER STONE is caused by bacteria in the intestine. (2005 Nobel Prize for Medicine/Physiology? TWO Australian scientists shared the Nobel Prize for Medicine or Physiology 2005.) The sensational discovery explaining the actual reason for GALL BLADDER STONE sounded very strange and unbelievable to Me when I read about it, but now I realize that anything is possible. Perhaps human-looking f. NAZIS inside homes and outside secretly put these HARMFUL bacteria in the food or drink taken by an UNSUSPECTING human to cause GALL BLADDER STONE in the victim's gall bladder. I AM SURE that there are low cost Ayurvedic and Homeopathic CURES for EVERY disease - INCLUDING gall bladder stone, cancer etc.
